Success story: Mendeley

leave a comment »

According the Guardian, “Mendeley is on the way to changing the face of
” (Gosh!)

Mendely is much more than a simple Citations manager (as RefWorks,
Reference Manager, EndNote, etc.).
It indexes and organizes all of your PDF documents and research papers
into your own personal digital bibliography. You can share also your
findings within a group: Your research team will have easy access to
each others papers.
The Mendeley research network works as a social network where you can
connect with other researchers in your field and discover new research
and trends.

The Mendeley communtiy is today approaching the 500,000 members.

Updated on 26th of August 2010:
Eugene Barsky reviewed Mendeley in the latest issue of ISTL.
the major advantages of Mendeley are the ability to extract metadata from PDF files and integrate itself into OpenOffice software, something that other bibliographic tools haven’t achieved yet. The major disadvantage is that it is a private company and it may disappear from the marketplace tomorrow.”
